You might try a metal yarn needle to get "into" the knoton the neckstrings--the blunt tip won't split the string (or skewer you), and the smooth metal won't wear on the string, which could weaken it right where you want it to be strongest. If her head seems a little floppy, add more stuffing---polyester fibrefill from Walmart or the craft store works well.

I'm not sure where to begin. I got a PM Sam on ebay for my cousin. Sam needs some TLC and I'm not sure where to begin.

1) Her hair needs a Downy Dunk (how long do you soak it?)
2) she has some pen/crayon marks on her arms and legs. I wiped them off with hand soap and they faded but are still there. I heard somwhere that Oxy works? what kind?
3) She can stand on her own, but not well. Her legs are a little loose. How do you tighten them up?
4) I also need to tighten her neck strings but I can't get them untied. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Laura

Hi there! I don't know much about tightening limbs or strings, but several people on here do. I gave my Josefina a downy dunk for 1 hour, after soaking her hair in baby shampoo (wig shampoo is fine too) for 8 minutes. For her limbs I used a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser and it took care of everything! Just be sure to cover her eyes because if any water touches them they will rust. Have a look at my album of restoring Josefina in my signature, that should help

Mr Clean Magic eraser will work wonders on the vinyl, but make sure you don't use it on the mouth cheeks or eyes; it will remove the paint!!!

If all the stains don't come off, buy an acne cream with 10% Benzoyl Peroxide. Most people recommend the brand Oxy 10, but I use the Walmart generic brand called Equate, and it works perfectly.

If you can't get the neck string undone, try using a sharp point like a safety pin to get under the knot.

To tighten limbs you can use these instructions to restring her.

Good luck!

~Dee
